Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if coaching will help me?

Coaching is most powerful when the client is ready - or close to ready - to make changes in his or her life. If your life is generally good, but you could use support in clarify and reaching your goals, schedule a free first session to see if coaching is for you?

What do we talk about in a coaching session?

Coaching sessions build on previous sessions and generally following a rhythm that involves reviewing past action items, exploring what worked well and what got in your way, clarification of the next month's goals, exploring possible obstacles and ways to mitigate them and new action items. We periodically revisit your larger goal to make sure you are heading in a direction that will have a real positive impact in your life.

What happens in my free appointment?

The initial coaching session (free) is an opportunity to explore what goals, if you reached them, would make the biggest impact in your life. Depending on the client, we might explore what problems are currently holding them back. Alternatively, a client might be more focused on a particular desire or dream that they wish to accomplish. It's also a chance to ask any questions you might have about coaching.

How much does coaching cost?

Coaching fees can vary greatly. Here at Bold Vision Coaching our goal is to make life coaching available to as many people as possible. To do this we keep our overhead low by offering our coaching virtually. This allows us to offer coaching monthly coaching packages for $50 a month (monthly appointments).

How often would we meet?

We typically meet either once a month or every two weeks, though some clients will meet weekly, especially in the beginning of the coaching relationship. The coaching relationship generally lasts six months to a year, depending upon the goal of the client.

What happens in between appointments?

In addition to online coaching sessions, we have weekly check-ins via email. This helps to maintain your moment and gives you an opportunity to get support with any issues that come up.

Do I really need coaching? Can't I work on my goals myself?

Yes, of course you can work on goals without the help of a coach. That being said a coach can be helpful if you are having trouble making progress. A coach can help you uncover blind spots (we all have them) and give you a new perspective on your situation and the solution. We often turn to friends and family to help get perspective on something; a coach has the advantage of being bias free. Friends and family may be affected by their history with you as well as a stake in the outcome.

Why doesn't a life coach give advice?

A life coach doesn't offer the same services as, for example, mentors. Mentors have experience in a particular field and from that expertise offer advice. A life coach has an expertise in behavioral science and goal setting. Life coaches believe that you are the expert on your own life and we avoid giving advice because we don't know everything about your life and situation. We are curious and ask questions that help you to clarify the right steps for yourself. That being said a coach may have take off their "coach hat" for awhile if they have a particular expertise in a subject that is relevant to you. The coach may move into more of a counselor role for a brief period of time while discussing that area of expertise.
